| Wanted to share the result of an experiment,
taken in April, when Saturn was visible quite
clearly.
Camera: Canon 40D
Lens : Canon EF 400 5.6L + 1.4X extender + 2X
extender
Aperture : f/11 (wide open)
Shutter Speed : Now comes the interesting part
……….
This image is a result of stacking 795 frames.
These frames were out of streamed video at 22
frames per second
There is a software “EOS Movie Record” that
records the signal going from the sensor to the
rear LCD screen.
This works on live view enabled cameras.
This requires the camera to be connected to a PC
/
Laptop.
A short clip of ~36 seconds was taken as Saturn
travelled across the frame due to the rotation of
the earth
The resulting avi file was taken into stacking
software “RegiStack”
Stacking frames reduces noise since noise is
random & improves signal to noise ratio.
This allows more detail to be captured.
Thanks for looking |
